Memorial Garden

My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting-places.

Isaiah 32:18 (NRSV) used with permission

The idea for a Memorial Garden grew out of an adult Sunday School class on “Death and Dying”. The congregation approved the plan, recommended by the Session, in February 2002. Initial costs for establishing the garden came from memorial gifts and special donations.

This garden is located in the northwest corner of the courtyard, a lovely and peaceful place where people can have their ashes committed to the ground. Family members and friends are then able to return to the garden, sit quietly, and share memories of their loved ones. The names along with birth and death dates of those whose ashes are shared in the garden are inscribed on a plaque on the outside wall of the church near the garden.

The garden is available free of charge to all church members, their immediate families, and others approved by Session. A donation of $500 is suggested to help maintain the garden. A set of guidelines and procedures is available in the church office.  Contact the office at (513) 523-6364.
